Nana Grasso

This is a photograph of Nana Grasso (Maria Giovianna Dinisio DeBonis Grasso).

According to her birth certificate, Maria (“Jennie”) Giovanna Dionisio was born on December 19, 1881 to Guiseppe Dionisio and Rosa Nardozia in Potenza, Italy. 

Maria arrived in New York Harbor on the ship Italia on April 25, 1913.  Traveling with Maria were her two young children Filomena, age six and Vincenzo (Vincent), age three.

Maria or “Jennie”, as she was often called, had five children: Filomena, Vincent, Josephine, James, and Anthony DeBonis.

I am unsure of when or where this particular photograph was taken.
